Vaquero wrestling holds current standing of 3-2. Their next match will be against Portola on May 6. The team will also be celebrating their senior night on May 13, against University. COVID guidelines they followed were submitting a negative COVID test each week to participate in practices and matches. They also had to complete a daily survey, had temperature checks before practice, and athletes were required to wear masks during practice.
“Competing with the team against other schools would have to be a highlight of my season. Although only the wrestlers that have a match go to the other schools instead of the whole team like we used to prior to COVID, it’s still a really fun experience,” junior Emmanuel Bulalacao said. “For the team, I hope that we can use this season to focus on technique so that next year, we can win League. As far as my individual goals for next year, I’m working to place in CIF Masters and hopefully compete at the CIF State meet.”
