Summer fun: local activities to add to your bucket list


1. Jeffrey Open Space Trail

The Jeffrey Open Space Trail, located at 13252 Jeffrey Rd, Irvine, CA 92620, is about five miles long and designed for walking, jogging and cycling. It’s a nice spot for summer bike rides with friends as you pass through the different paths that go over bridges and through small tunnels. 

2. Old Town Tustin – Arvida Book Co.

Arvida Book Co. is a bookstore located at 115 W Main St, Tustin, CA 92780 that sells old and new books, stationery, handmade trinkets and even has a small coffee stand. After spending time there, you can visit some of the other shops and restaurants around the Old Town Tustin area, such as Rasta Cowboy Records, Armstrong Garden Centers and the Assistance League of Tustin.

3. Bowlero Orange County

Featuring their bowling lanes, arcade that includes new and classic video games and a various menu to choose from, they are located at 2405 Park Avenue, Tustin. They currently have a summer season pass for sale that includes three games of bowling, along with shoes from May 2 to Sep. 5. For  a summer pass, it costs $40.95 for guests age 15 and under and $58.65 for guests age 16 and over.

4. Orange County Great Park Farmers Market

The Orange County Great Park Farmers Market has plenty to offer. There’s food trucks and vendors that sell things like fresh fruit, vegetables and even succulents. They are open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 6950 Marine Way, Irvine.

5. Orange County Fair

Tickets for the OC Fair are on sale now. Being held July 15 to Aug. 14, the OC Fair features music, exhibits, competitions, shopping and plenty of food. The fair is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays and tickets are $12 for general admission. Friday through Sunday, tickets are $14 and is open from 11 a.m. to midnight.  Located at 13252 Jeffrey Rd, Irvine, CA 92620, make sure to purchase your tickets online and ahead of time this year.
